I got a sage piece of advice when I was diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago. I was told, “Don’t make this time about cancer. Instead, make it about something you always wanted to do and did not have the time to do it.” I missed singing so I auditioned for the Westchester Chorale and spent the four months I was undergoing chemotherapy getting ready for the holiday concert. It really did the trick.
I am writing this because I am following this advice again during the covid crisis. I have been learning French, improving my meditation practice, reading two books a month, studying floral design and exercising every day.
And yes, I have been struggling to keep my business going. I have had to make some painful choices. I put my domain names up for sale and I created this new website, which is simple and to the point.
I am in a place of knowing and not knowing. I know I can’t keep my doors open. I know I have more to give. I don’t know what will happen next. I used to struggle with ambiguity. I often read the end of a book before I finished it because I had to know what happened. However, the older I get, the more comfortable I have become being in a place of “unknowing.”
This new website allows me to keep a presence online as I navigate these crazy times. I hope you continue to read my blog to see how the future unfolds for Flourishing Culture Consultants!
